Some channels will be mirrors of normal digital TV, such as news stations and cartoons, while others might be DVD video or even unique showings that you won't find anywhere else. Getting TVU Player up and running is fairly easy, though it's important to configure the options to ensure you get the best playback from the broadcaster, and it can be difficult to set up your own server. You can't always guarantee there will be many, or any, broadcasters at one time, either, especially late at night.
